Panel 2
I've been working on this b3ta comic book project I found out about yesterday. This is the first panel from page 1, not sure where i'm going to go with it - but i'm guessing i'll figure something :D
Now can someone tell me why i'm wide awake at 1am after having a terrible nights sleep the night before :(
A photoshopped macro of my watch.
Tick, tock, tick,
My watch chimes on and on,
Each passing seconds of my life measured,
Life slipping away noted by the eternal rhythm.
Tock, Tick, Tock,
Metal and leather bound together,
Bondage of flesh and mechanics,
The measure of life through twelve hours.
Tick, Tick, Tock,
The sounds of my clock,
A heartbeat of cogs,
A soul of springs.
Both photo's were taking in natural sunlight without the flash firing. I played with them in Photoshop to enhance the contrast and give them a bit of a Orton effect. I've also been painting today (woo) but I'll take a photo of that tomorrow.
Acrylics on canvas board
Yesterday I brought some new acrylic paints, a flesh tone, Raw Sienna and Coeruleum. They were more expensive than my first lot of paints - £3.69 each rather than 12 for £2 :o) I used them for the first time today and found they are nicer to use than the first lot- they flow much faster and go a lot further. Unfortunately I squeezed slightly too hard on the flesh tones and ended up with a lot more than I needed. But you live and learn.
Anyway I thought i'd try a study of an egg in an egg cup - I'm fairly pleased with it. The egg is mainly flesh tones with a mix of raw sienna and white, the cup is mostly white with a little of flesh on the light side and a bit of raw sienna on the dark side. The blue lines is (surprisingly) Coeruleum. I painted under the egg cup with raw sienna - I told you I was trying them out :D. the background is the rest of the white and a touch of Coeruleum.
I know its no master piece - but think it's not to bad.
I also used my Wilkinson's paints - well titanium white - for the first time today. they seem quite good. One thing I noticed was that the water didn't become coloured when I washed my brushes at all, it only changed when I washed of the white paint (which wasnt one of the expensive paints)
A couple of days ago I was watching a program about this woman who was victimising all the members of a shared house, she called the police all the time accusing the members of the house of trying to kill her, being peeping toms/perverts etc. it was very odd and left me feeling quite cross.
Anyway - one of the victims was a life model and it got me thinking about painting from life. It's something I'd love to try, although I'm not sure where I could do it around here. Anyway I had a go at painting from a Photo I found on DeviantArt, I'm quite pleased with it. Although it was done digitally - so I'm going to have to try it on canvas soon.
I also had an idea about a cool thing for the wall, I've got 4 small canvases. I'm thinking about painting each one a different solid colour with a circle in another colour painted some where on it. I'd have to get a stencil and some masking tapes so the circle would be perfect.
""Hot and sweaty through the night,
Bodies entangled in heat and cloth,
Bed's are made for one or two not three,
Cramped limbs ache and strain,
Pushed against a wall or falling of the bed just isn't fun,
Flesh prickles and burns with pins and needles,
The night creeps past until dawn is near,
Screams and cries pull you from a dreamless sleep,
Morning time brings the revelation,
co-sleeping children climb in without an invitation.""
"Step up" - "Step up" and see him hang,
Not from bar held by his hands,
But a noose around the rich mans neck,
Swinging there till he's dead, dead, dead,
There's no escape from the hangman's noose,
well except for plenty of swearing and abuse,
here he will be hung up to dry,
and not even his creditors will cry,
Life's not so bad when your rich, rich, rich,
but being, broke is a bitch.
The gallows await,
the noose is there,
the rich man touches his royal hair,
a blindfold is offered but of course refused,
the noose is lowered and he feels confused,
how did he get to a state like this,
one too many bets and a drunken french kiss,
a bribe of gold is offered quickly,
The hangman smile is rather sickly,
don't worry he tells the dead man walking,
I'll take it when the crowd is talking,
you see you'll have no need for it then,
But my money won't be spent in a gambling den.
Slipping and sliding through water and weeds,
Swampy is living the only life that he needs,
Feasting on dead things and fresh bird eggs,
He's not really living life on the edge,
The trees and under growth are his comfy home,
Not bricks and mortar but furniture made out of bones,
Hair on his back and hair on his head,
but no hair on his legs these were the first thing he shed,
No longer is his skin pink, taught and bright,
but dull, saggy and green - the transformation he didn't fight,
Now life is peaceful and not full of stress,
no more big banks, shareholders or a posh expensive address.
The ship went down,
The tea cups went up,
"Chin - chin" was uttered on that warm golden beach,
No iceberg had sunk this ship,
No screams for help,
No, No, No
This is a thoroughly English shipwreck.
Tea cakes and cucumber sandwiches were the order of the day,
Finger food and checkered blankets all laid near the bay,
Water spurted up and blew out all the port holes,
The captain went down with the ship,
only to return 5 minutes later refreshed from his dip.
A few photo's from our trip to the monster in laws house :D it was nice to get away and i had the opportunity to take some photo's of things I normally don't - I wish we could go out more. maybe its something to explore!!
Mr Cherry - Mr Cherry,
sit's in an arm chair all day long,
Mr Cherry - Mr Cherry,
just doesn't know where he belongs,
Mr Cherry - Mr Cherry,
his tune is a swan song,
Mr Cherry - Mr Cherry,
I wonder where he went wrong.
I woke up today to be greeted by snow falling at a rate of knots :D as far as I can see is covered in snow. this is really weird for this time of year and especially strange for the snow to settle. I managed to get some photo's of it - but my batteries died before I could put them on the computer. I'll do it later :o)
Edit - okay here are a few of the better pics
In a flash and woosh of a magic spell,
The crab was where an old man did dwell,
his nose was long and his clothes were blue,
in his hand a walking stick that actually grew.
5 Word Review - Dr who Series 4 Episode 1
Donna, fat, shouting, Rose, splat
Yesterday around lunch time, I heard a knock at the door. The postman had this huge box for me and, inside was my free print from Canvas R us. I used one of my favourite pictures and I think it came out good :D
£70 worth of print for free - not bad really :D
The crab flicked the wand once more,
But again it didn't give him what he asked for,
He appeared in a green things mouth,
And not the sunny beach in the south.
The Crab sat on a plant that's blue,
He looked down and saw many eyes that grew,
He jumped a little and spoke no lies,
"A blue Plant with eyes - now that is a surprise!!"
Loosely based on a picture of the New York Library - well except the vines and plants :D
