No new Smallville until Jan - :(
Just great - i found out that there is no new smallville until Mid Jan 2009. I'd really just started to get back into it and now this! :( at least heroes is still on. Although i have a questions - Claire is the catalyst - right?? So if her dad (Nathan) had this magic injections to give him powers - how the hell did it work when she wouldn't be born for 20ish years later. Plus he had his powers a long time before he came in contact with her.

Smallville Series 8 Episode 10...!
Right - i was a huge fan of Smallville when it started many moons ago. but in the last few years it has gone down hill a bit, the current series so far hasn't been very good - Lex luthor has vanished and some no body has taken over Luthor corp/The Daily Planet, both his parent have gone (one moved, one dead), Chloe now doesn't know his secret - oh and Louis has just realised she is in love with Clark. Any way to cut a long story short - my favourite villain in comic book history (maybe next to Bane) Doomsday has just been introduced.
I wont give anything away just incase anyone reads this and hasn't seen the episode yet - but its safe to say - apart from the craptastic Cloverfield rip off its a great episode and answers a few questions. well apart from - Who the hell was the bloke on the plane with Oliver - I'm not sure if it was supposed to be Cyborg - but it sure didn't look like him.

Onwards & Upwards by Arabella Weir
I picked up a copy of this book in a charity shop a while back for 50p, having only ever read 1/2 of "Does my bum look big in this" by the same author i wasn't expecting a great read. DMBLBIT was funny - but the main characters neurotic ramblings got on my nerves and in the end I just couldn't be bothered to finish it. But this book was 100% better - it was funny, interesting, heartfelt and used the word Fanny far to many times ;)
The main 3 characters are Bert, Tess and Vicky - all different but fit together like misshapen jigsaw puzzle parts. Each one complementing the other. It starts with Bert (Albertine) starting secondary school and finding 3 good friends, she progresses through a good hundred and sixty pages skipping school, arguing with her mother, loosing her virginity, sleeping around and falling pregnant. The book then skips to Tess and her self discovery of why she doesn't want to snog/bonk like Bert and Vicky and what she wants to do with her life. Vicky finishes the book by becoming a mother and a wife to someone she doesn't really truly love, she trades her successful life to become a Stepford wife. By the end of the book Vicky has regained her friendship with her other 2 best friends and steps down slightly from her pedestal.
I would recommend this book and think Arabella has done a damn good job, I'll look out for more books by her and may even skip the charity shop and go straight to an actual bookshop :oD.
