Darcie has gone through some sort of screaming fit every few hours. I'm sure its just a new way of trying to wind Claire up - but as always she succeeds.

I of course always have to smooth over the bumps and try and sort out the rows, God knows I'm no angel. i loose my temper and get annoyed.

I think half term / school holidays are a cruel and unusual punishment! Rapists, Murderers and those who don't pay their council tax get it easier :o)

I've been spending my time recently trying to learn to draw - its fun - but as always...i have to do it in between bouts of Harvey throwing things and Darcie having another patent pending screaming fit...!

The conversation can be found Here. I don't really think i was particularly rude - but please feel free to read it yourself. The other person mentions w*nking but not me. I think the rudest part of my conversation was my quote from the matrix about being a "digital pimp" and saying wash your hands after going to the toilet. i guess these can be rude if taken out of context.

but as they say - life goes on. I can do no more than apologies for a comment i made over 2 years ago, and i certainly can't help what other people say in response.

So glad i went to uni for all those years.....!

shopping, Shopping, SHOPPING! is there anything better! Well maybe the love of a good woman (or man), a nice cold drink, plenty of money in the bank or the knowledge that you can get the best rare steak in town within a five minute walk from your home...!

in other news - i've been playing with my new water colour pencils over the last few days - they are pretty cool - although the colours are limited. i may have to dig out my old water colours and have a proper play.

i also found a blog today called sixty minute artist- its a great resource for painters, he also does some lovely work :D

i just realised Ranillo (or zoothingy as he came back for a short period as) has banned me from commenting on any of his work in DeviantArt. I think i'm not popular Very Happy

And it surprises you that he's no longer interested in what you have to say???

Fair is fair, after all.

revjessecuster

why what exactly did i do that was so bad?? i never said a bad word to him the only thing i ever did was to remove his sig.

he was very insulting to me - but if i can forgive and forget - surely others can. But to be honest i'm not bothered. Just made me laugh - considering i was only going to complement him on one of his pics.

Medley

OK Rev, you opened the door..........

Just because PSC (and IP, by association) have put their collective skeletons in the closet by deleting the threads that were critical of them does NOT by any means mean that those skeletons do not still exist.

This is a proprietary forum, owned by the maazine, and I can respect their right to allow or disallow entire threads to keep from having to have an earnest discussion about some of their policies and attitudes.

Doubtless that no search of the forums will turn up any negative comments, as the comments in question were in the deleted threads.

The fact that you found an overseas reader insulting, that nothing about the way it was handled bothers you, and that you find the entire affair amusing is, indeed, indicative of the very policies and attitudes mentioned previously.

Now, do you really wish to rehash this topic, or would you rather leave it be?

Be forewarned: all of the deleted threads in question are currently saved in my archives, and I am willing support my claims if requested- though I see no point in it. The forum has become nothing if not predictable in how such actions will be dealt with.

For my part, I felt that my "fair is fair" comment summed things up.....or am I mistaken in assuming that Ranillo is banned from comming here and commenting on your work?

- Joe U.

revjessecuster

To be honest i have no interest in rehashing the past. do what you want.

Medley

'nuff said then.

exactly

so the lesson here is - "if someone is banned from a website you mod on - and it has nothing to do with you - expect to be hated for it!!" but to be honest - this means it's just one less person i need to look in on now...:oD yay!!

My Parents and sister (and her boyfriend) went home today :( but it was nice seeing them. I hope to get down to see them sometime next year. the problem really is - that its very expensive. I wonder if it'd be better / easier to go from Portsmouth to East Croydon --> East Croydon to Bedford. Then we could have a bite to eat an maybe a look around Croydon before moving on - but to be honest i don't fancy dragging a suitcase behind us.

Book News - On Tuesday i got an E-mail from Tim Pilcher from Ilex Publishing...

Dear Simon,

Please allow me to introduce myself I am the commissioning editor for Ilex Press. I know you contributed to our title Surreal Digital Photography 2 and the reason I am writing is that we are currently putting together our new list of titles and we are planning to publish a book provisionally entitled, Surreal Photography: A Fresh Perspective. I was hoping you'd be interested in writing and contributing to this book for us. Obviously, I am aware of your work and with your extensive experience and artists and photo manipulator contacts we felt you'd be perfect for the book.

Essentially, the book would be a showcase of creators working today in this field. Each image would have some commentary by the artists about the subject matter or how/why they created it. The book would focus on photo manipulated images rather than entire pics just painted in Photoshop, as that would be too similar to another book we are doing. We would promote the artists' website and put their contact details in the back as well as giving a copy of the book to every contributor. To give you an idea of what we are currently working on I have attached a PDF of Comic Art Now, a similar showcase book. In this line we have also done one on Fantasy Art, Erotic Fantasy Art and a forthcoming one on Gothic Art (which you might want to contribute to).

At the moment I am putting together proposal blad that will be shown to our prospective publishing partners. If you are interested I would be grateful if you could reply as quickly as possible as I need to put some information together in the next few weeks. What we would need from you would be a some text and images so we can design a presentation document (a "blad"). At this stage we don't know whether the book will actually happen, but if you are able to help us now then you'd be the first choice author on the actual publication and we are prepared to pay you for the work on the blad now. I can send you a brief Concept Document and Table of Contents, to give you an idea of the book, but this is in no means written in stone.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me, it'd be appreciated as we need to move very quickly on this and if you could get back to me with a provisional yes or no by Thursday 6 September, it would be greatly appreciated. I saw that you were looking to write a book of tutorials, but hopefully I'd be able to tempt you with this offer! If you are unable to work on the blad I would be extremely grateful if there was someone else who you would recommend, who maybe able to write the book.

I look forward to hearing from you very soon.

Best wishes,

Tim.

So pretty cool stuff!! :o)

can i ask - why do you have a copyright notice??

*KamPhoto

Why not to have one?

~rev-Jesse-C

fair enough :D i just don't see how this would stop people stealing your work.

*KamPhoto

In your comment I see a certain resignation. A thief is a thief. But he/she is warned. Are you thinking of stealing? Or are you looking for a way to protect your work?

~rev-Jesse-C

Hahaha - yep i'm gonna steal all of your pics and sell them :D

No i just feel - that if your going to display your work publicly, then thats the risk you take. personally i don't mind/care if people take/download my work. not for selling you understand (not that's ever going to happen), but if people want to use one of my pictures as a desktop / layout etc then they are more than welcome.

For years now i've seen my pics popping up here and there and it only makes me feel proud that someone would want to display my work on their website.

but thats just my opinion

*KamPhoto

Would you like to display one of my work somewhere?
Why would you not let me know it before doing so?
This is the basic understanding amongst good mannered people.

~rev-Jesse-C

no - i don't want to display any of your work.

In other news - School starts again tomorrow - yay!

Yesterday i spent most of the day rebuilding the computers OS and program files. luckily i had already backed up my important files. It's nice having a bit of clear out, makes everything run nicely again and a bit quicker too. granted i lost all my personalised settings in Photoshop - but with a bit of luck i can get them back again.

Now i'm a bit of a loss what to do in this Blog, I've had one or two before that have been a bit of fun - but i'd like to carry this one on and add stuff daily. I think this will be party diary, part rant, part Photoshop tutorial thing.

I've been playing with the idea of writing a book for a while now - i've had lots of work published and have been interviewed by a few people/websites - which was fun :D
